Community
Service
We are
dedicated to community service here at Harmony. Every month we offer at least 1
class for free and accept donations for worthwhile causes.
Listed below
are organizations that you have all supported through your generous donations:
New
Milford Loaves & Fishes
Did you know that in our community there are families that do not have enough
food? Loaves & Fishes, which operates by volunteer help and donations, provides 1 main
meal a day and a bag lunch to anywhere from 20-50 people in our community daily.
The Women's Center of Greater Danbury
The Women's Center is an establishment that offers free one-on-one as well as
group counseling for any woman dealing with domestic or sexual abuse. The Center also
offers a 24-hour hot-line which is run 100% by volunteers and is always available to
support a woman in need.
Healing the
Children
Healing the Children - Northeast, Inc. is a humanitarian aid organization based in
Connecticut, which provides medical treatment to children throughout the world who lack
sufficient access to necessary medical services. Their mission is accomplished through the
delivery of three programs: Medical Teams Abroad, International Inbound and Domestic Kids.
Since 1979, when Healing the Children was founded, their medical programs and network of
volunteers have served more than 75,000 children located in over 65 countries.
The
Danbury Regional Child Advocacy Center
This essential organization is helping people right here in our own community. Incorporated in 1976, the Danbury Regional Child
Advocacy Center is a private, non-profit child abuse prevention agency, providing timely
and effective services which help high risk parents increase skills and knowledge
necessary to prevent out-of-home placement of their children.
Heifer International

self-reliance is created that reaches around the globe.
Heifers

country's first residential eating disorder treatment facility, they empower individuals
to actively participate in their own growth and recovery. Specializing solely in the

of healthy relationships
The Avon Foundation - the Avon Walk for Breast
Cancer
One of Glo's first
yoga students, Mary Jackson, is walking this year (2007) and through our community classes
our students were able to make donations to her and this very important cause. The
Avon Breast Cancer Crusade is a program of the Avon Foundation, launched in 1992. The
Crusade now supports breast cancer programs in more than 50 countries. Since its founding,
the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade has raised and awarded more than $450 million worldwide for
access to care and finding a cure for breast cancer, with a focus on the medically
underserved. Funding supports five areas: awareness and education; screening and
diagnosis; treatment; support services; and scientific research.
