Judy Apicella began her career doing PR for Mikhail Baryshnikov at American Ballet Theatre. She left to become a dancer/performer in theatre herself and to study healing. Judys path has taken her on a 20 year journey of healing and health through Reiki, crystal and gem healing, nutrition, remedies and herbs where she has helped people with Hormonal Problems, Lymes Disease, Injuries and Emotional problems. She is a certified Reiki Master and Interdimensional Healer. Judy is also a certified yoga instructor. She studied Bikram Yoga for many years and then Jivamukti Yoga. Her style is a combination of Hot Hatha Yoga and Vinyassa flow to heal the body, mind and spirit. In Judys class you will learn the benefits of each posture and which organs are the focus. Each class ends with a guided meditation to lift your spiritual energy to a place of peace and healing. Judy is the yoga instructor at Kent Prep School. She is a also a documentary film maker. Her films Shoot em Up The Truth about Vaccines and What are We Doing to Our Children and Our Planet received worldwide distribution. She owns and operates Bella Alpacas- A Farm B&B and Alpaca farm with a herd of over 20 alpacas and Bhakti Yoga Center and Spa with her husband Salvatore and their son Nico. Salvatore Apicella began his career as a child where his parents owned and operated some of the finest restaurants in Modena Italy. Salvatore would make homemade tortellini and ravioli for the restaurants at the age of 12. He continued his love of cooking and restaurants when he moved to the US in 1999 and worked with his father in his restaurants. In 2006, Salvatore designed and built Tramonti restaurant where he is a partner with his father, Giovanni and cousin Filipo. Salvatore has educated himself on nutrition and healthy food and living and has combined his love of food and Italy with healing food. He is currently writing a cookbook and teaches cooking classes at his farm, Bella Alpacas. Salvatore built and designed Bella Alpacas and Bhakti. Aside from the fabulous gourmet meals that he cooks for guests he also teaches cooking classes.
Kristi Gunnarshaug Kristi Gunnarshaug is a graduate of Lotus Gardens Yoga 200 hour certificate
program and is currently working on her 500 hour certificate. She is a graduate of
Connecticut Center of Massage Therapy in Newington.
Caseyanne Higgins Casey Higgins, found yoga in 2002 after
spending several years searching for a way to heal her anxiety. Yoga was the therapy that
she needed to help work through and manage her anxiety throughout graduate school and her
work life. She is studying to complete her
yoga certification with Lara Ward of Lotus Gardens so that she can share the power of
calming the mind and turning inward to manage everyday stress and anxiety. Casey emphasizes releasing deep tension, flowing
with the breath, and body awareness in her teaching to encourage a healthy body and
peaceful mind. Casey also works as a
speech-language pathologist with birth - age five children teaching them the love and
compassion she has learned through yoga.
Janine Mangiamele Janine has over twenty years experience practicing yoga styles that
include Hatha, Iyengar, Kundalini and Sivananda. She received her 200 hour teacher
training certification from Lotus Gardens Yoga; and has taken workshops on a wide
range of topics. She believes that the practice and benefits of yoga are for everyone,
regardless of age or level of fitness.
Twink McKenney Twink McKenney has been studying yoga and astrology since 1985. Her passion for both is evident and she loves to weave the two ancient bodies of wisdom together in her class. Using planetary placements and moon phases to inform and guide the class, students connect mind, body and spirit in a Hatha yoga class that is both centering, strengthening and renewing for students of all levels.
Lester strives to bring balance to her life. Between managing the Litchfield Athletic Club, raising children and dealing with life's insanity, she enjoys biking, telemark skiing, backpacking and yoga. Lester has studied yoga on and off in various traditions for many years. She has found that the philosophy's of yoga have helped to cultivate positive qualities and reduce negative emotions, opening her heart to greater things. She began teaching in 2004 after becoming certified through Lotus Gardens Yoga. Her classes blend form and alignment with energy awareness and breath. Students will love her warm personality and infectious laugh!
Dawn Roy
Dawn started practicing yoga in 2004, mainly because she wanted to add something to her exercise program. She quickly discovered there was much more to yoga than just exercise. After years of practicing in a multitude of different styles and studios, she was inspired to become a certified yoga instructor and has recently completed the 200 hour certification through Lotus Gardens. "Through these teaching I have discovered a profound understanding about love, compassion, and kindness. I am eager to further my practice and studies and continue to find balance between body, mind and spirit. I hope to bring enthusiasm, insight, challenge, spirituality and great music to my classes and grow as a teacher and a student."
